Confession time people. I swear I came up with this idea while in the shower and having pretty much the exact same thoughts as little Wilson there. Then when I went to draw Wilson with the towel around his waist, I decided it would be fun to model it off of Opus and the many times he appeared in nothing but a towel. Just like the last time I did this, I fully planned to point out that the second panel was a homage to my hero, but when looking for an appropriate image of Opus, I came across almost the very same joke. The setup is different and has more to do about reading more and watching TV less, but the punchline is virtually identical (except Opus is watching Gilligan's Island). After much stressing about this, I decided A) no one reads my webcomic anyways, B) I didn't do it on purpose, C) the joke itself is different, and D) in Berke Breathed's final Bloom County collection he mentions how he accidentally stole from Doonesbury all the time. So I figure if my hero can accidentally steal from his hero, I can accidentally steal from mine. |
